Program Services

The New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association (NYSFAAA) will provide financial literacy and financial aid workshops to students and families. Programs include:

  • Financial Literacy Workshops
These instructional workshops educate students and families on topics that include budgeting finances, the benefits of saving, calculating college costs, and how debt impacts one’s quality of life. These workshops benefit families with children in middle school and high school.
  • Financial Aid Workshops
The purpose of these programs is to provide an overview of the college financial aid application process. Workshops will be offered at both the high school and middle school level to NY GEARUP students and their families. At the middle school level workshops are tailored to focus on saving for college. Families of middle school children may be more apt to focus on saving for college since their children are just a few years away from attending college. These workshops will be offered twice a year depending on demand.
  • FAFSA Completion Events|
These hands-on events pair NY GEARUP students with financial aid professionals for assistance in completing the FAFSA during the spring semester of their senior year. Students and parents will be able to complete the FAFSA, TAP and, if necessary, the CSS Profile applications online.
